Boys and Prom Attire
goingtotheprom.com staff
Boys don’t get as excited over the prom as the girls in their lives do or at least, most of them do not. However, if they have a steady girl friend, then they likely have no other choice but to get somewhat excited over the possibility of having a grand time at the prom or formal dance. Boys don’t take their time dressing up in prom attire like the ladies of their life will but they will certainly want to look nice going to the prom. Most parents won’t go out and buy a tux but will instead, take the time to go rent one which is a bit easier on the purse strings. The boys who do own a tux, may still want to check with their date about the prom accessories she may expect for him to have to match her dress such as the bow tie or another accessory. Proms are more or less dictated by the young women who are most excited about a prom. The girls will want their date to be color-co-ordinate with them and will likely even want to show their dress to their date so he will know what she is wearing. After all, the prom dress rules aren’t the same as the rules for the wedding dress and rules. It is fine for the young man to see the prom dress if it will help him decide what he wants to wear. Men clothing styles vary and will change as much as the styles of women to some degree but the only thing that seems to remain the same is the tuxedo. The tuxedo seems to stay the same. Designers of men’s tuxedos can’t do anything to improve the look so they remain as they are. Boys and their moms or dads can find what they need through a tuxedo rental company. They will be able to find everything from the cufflinks to the tux itself and will likely find the tuxedo in two or three colors with little variation among style. Boys have it made really when you think about it and so do their parents. They are able to get by with only renting a tux for maybe $85 and then they pay for the corsage and maybe dinner so at most they spend right under $200 whereas a girl can spend up to $1000 without a second thought with day spa treatments, the prom dress itself, shoes, hair salon visit, manicure and the purchase of prom accessories. No wonder the guys aren’t as excited by prom season as the young ladies are when it finally rolls around. Young ladies are able to shop until they drop while having a grand time being pampered and spoiled. Young men carry on with everything in a business as usual format and then they rarely even get a call back for a second date. Guys, it’s a fact of life, whenever you are required to dress up, you should know it’s for the young lady in your life to have a splendid time feeling like a princess for a day. Unfortunately, when the occasion requires formal attire, the party is usually geared more toward the ladies having a great time so the men have to make the most of the event. And for future reference, it doesn’t change much with age either.
