The prom is the one big dance that many teens look forward to all through high school. It is the time in their life when they get to wear a formal dress and feel like the queen of the night. The prom is something that many people believe is the transformation of a teenager to a young adult.

Choosing the perfect prom dress is very important but so is choosing the perfect prom dress accessories. Adding the right hairstyle and jewelry can turn a simple style dress into an elegant gown. Of course, it is important to buy a dress that suits your personal style and one that compliments your body. Once you have accomplished that phase, then you can move on to adding just the right amount of accessories to enhance the dress.

Hairstyles

How you wear your hair is completely up to you and will be determined by many different things. What type of hair do you have, is it short or long, straight or curly, what type of dress do you have. However, here are a few suggestions to help you make your decision.

Wearing your hair up is considered the most formal hairstyle while down is consider more free spirited and fun loving. Both hairstyles can be very elegant so it really depends on what type of personality you are trying to portray. It is important to keep your hair out of your face and away from your forehead with either style you choose.

If your dress has a high neckline then your hair would look better put up. A strapless dress will look great with either hairstyle. Long hair worn down looks fantastic with skirts that have a lot of soft flowing flare, they tend to compliment each other. But the stiff ball gown style goes better with your hair worn up.

Jewelry

Jewelry is a very important aspect when worn with a prom dress. You want enough to compliment your dress and hairstyle but not too much. If you have a fancy dress with lots of lace and frills then you should keep the jewelry at minimum, just a simple necklace and earrings will do just fine.

If you have a high neckline then don’t wear a necklace, just earrings and maybe a bracelet. Low necklines on the other hand can be greatly complimented by a gorgeous necklace. Take a look at the dress and the way you plan to wear your hair when deciding what type of jewelry and remember you want to compliment not take away from these features.

It is also important to keep your makeup to a minimum. You want it to look soft and natural to add to your beauty not cover it up. Don’t wait till the last minute to decide on your prom dress accessories. Experiment with different hairstyles along with makeup and jewelry ahead of time to see which look best portrays your personality.
