If you are planning to go to the prom this year than you know you are going to need to look great. A great dress and hair style is very important. Having your makeup done professionally can complete the look but don’t forget about your prom fashion accessories. The smallest things can really pack a big punch and the perfect accessories can set you out from the crowd and complete your truly glamorous look.

Shoes- The shoes you wear on prom night can really set off the entire package. You can’t have the perfect dress, the perfect hair and the perfect makeup and some messed up shoes. Your shoes can literally be THE accessory to have when it comes to formal affairs like the Prom.

Handbag- Your handbag can be a nice accessory and an easy way to stash that powder and lip gloss for quick touch-ups in the bathroom to keep your makeup looking fresh all night long. But keep in mind that you need a bag that is easy to carry and that goes with your dress. If possible, you want to choose a handbag that matches your dress color or that is gold or silver and matches your jewelry or shoes. If you are wearing an ivory or white dress, you might go with a red colored handbag. NEVER wear a shoulder-strap bag or purse with a formal prom gown. Also be sure you don’t carry valuables in your handbag as you will likely put it down for dancing, etc and it can be stolen or misplaced.

Jewelry- Jewelry can be a great touch to complete your prom fashion statement but don’t go overboard. This can be a great chance to wear that special piece of jewelry that you have reserved for special occasions but you don’t want to distract from your gown and you. Be cautious of necklaces that interfere with the neckline of your dress. If you have multiple ear piercings, you might want to wear only one set of really special earrings tonight. You can also use this as an opportunity to wear a piece that might not get noticed on other occasions such as a special ankle bracelet.

Hair Jewelry- Another idea when it comes to prom fashion is hair jewelry. Depending on your personal style, your hair style and your theme for the evening, you might benefit from wearing hair jewelry and accessories. You can put hair jewels, decorated pins and more in your hair or you might wear a tiara to complete your night as a prom princess.
